Photo by @ryancampbell.photo: “The magic in a starry night sky as seen through a camera has always been breathtaking for me. I knew that I wanted to capture a beautiful landscape with the night sky, and after spending many days planning and preparing equipment, I hiked up to this beautiful lake called Lake Blanche to spend the night. The hike was far more difficult than anticipated, but the beautiful scenery made it worth it.

I spent some time walking around the lake trying to find a nice composition. I found this spot where I could see the reflection of the mountain in the lake as well as a little bit of the shoreline to provide a nice foreground for reference.

I waited for the Milky Way to come out from behind the horizon around midnight and I began shooting exposures for an hour. For the final photo, I stacked a photo of the foreground with 11 stacked photos of the stars so that I could reduce the noise in the starry sky and make the stars pop more. I used a star tracker so that I could do 4 minute exposures of the stars and not have any star trails. After stacking these photos in Photoshop, this was the result!

I’m grateful for the places my camera has taken me and I’m absolutely stoked to go on more adventures to capture photos of the beautiful outdoors.” #ShotOnCanon
