We will tour together this time to walk around the morning market held every morning in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
The morning market in Hida Takayama is known as one of the three largest morning markets in Japan, along with Katsuura morning market in Chiba Prefecture and Wajima morning market in Ishikawa Prefecture, and is held every morning from around 7:00 am to noon.
There are two major morning markets in Takayama: the Jinya-mae morning market and the Miyagawa morning market.
I thought that the “Jinya-mae Asaichi” was smaller in scale and more local, and I had the impression that many places only accept cash.
Miyagawa Asaichi is more tourist oriented and offers a wider variety of products.
Personally, I preferred “Jinya-mae Asaichi,” which has a stronger local flavor. In the video, I bought peaches and pears, both of which were very tasty.
After walking around the Jinya-mae Asaichi and Miyagawa Asaichi, I walked around the Takayama Preservation District. There are many stores here, and it is also a great photo spot.
The stores usually open at 9:30 a.m., so if you want to take pictures, before that, there are much fewer people.
Takayama itself is an old town, so it is fun just to walk around, so please join us.
