茨城県つくば市のサイエンス・スクエアつくば。
ここでは、最先端の科学技術を、見て、触って、学べます。ロボットがどのように動いているのか、新しい薬はどのように作られているのかなど、普段はなかなか知ることのできない科学の世界を、わかりやすく紹介しています。
その中でも注目は人形のロボットです。
HRP-2P: 人間と一緒に働くことを目指してつくられた試作機です。転んでも壊れにくいように、受け身の練習もしていたそうです。このロボットをもとにして開発された「HRP-2」は、世界中のロボット研究施設で、研究用に使われました。
HRP-3P: 過酷な条件でも働けるロボットの研究から生まれたこの機体は、埃っぽい場所や雨の中でも壊れにくい構造になっています。バランス感覚も優れていて、滑りやすい場所を歩いたり、押されたりしても転びにくくなりました。
パロ: アザラシ型ロボットのパロは、「世界一いやし効果の高いロボット」としてギネスにも掲載されたことがあるんですよ。撫でたり声をかけたりすると、まるで生きているかのように反応してくれます。
災害調査ロボ: 災害現場で活躍するロボットです。がれきの中を探索したり、人命救助を行ったりします。
マイクロモビリティ: 小型の移動体で、ロボットの一種です。未来の交通手段として期待されています。

Science Square Tsukuba is located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
Here, visitors can see, touch, and learn about cutting-edge science and technology. Visitors are introduced to the world of science in an easy-to-understand manner, such as how robots work and how new medicines are made, which are usually difficult to learn about.
The highlight of the exhibition is the puppet robot.
HRP-2P: This prototype was built to work together with humans. They also practiced passive body movement so that it would be less likely to break even if it fell down. HRP-2, which was developed based on this robot, was used for research purposes at robotics research facilities around the world.
HRP-3P: Born from research on robots that can work in harsh conditions, this machine is built to resist breakage in dusty places and in the rain. It has excellent balance and is less likely to fall when walking on slippery surfaces or being pushed.
Paro: Paro, a seal-shaped robot, has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as “the most soothing robot in the world. When you pet him or talk to him, he reacts as if he were alive.
Disaster Investigation Robot: This robot is used at disaster sites. They search through debris and rescue people.
Micromobility: A type of small mobile robot. It is expected to be a future means of transportation.
