【嵐山羅漢】羅漢像約７０体がひしめき合い、阪神・淡路大震災の復興を願う。About 70 statues of arhats crowded together Arashiyama Arhat
京都市右京区嵯峨天龍寺芒ノ馬場町の嵐山羅漢。
京都の嵐山にある宝厳院は臨済宗天龍寺派の寺院です。大本山天龍寺の塔頭の一つであり、室町時代に創建されました。この寺院の前に広がる「嵐山羅漢」には、個性豊かな石仏さんたちがずらりと並んでおり、様々な表情やポーズの羅漢像が安置されています。
これらの石仏は、阪神・阪神大震災の復興を願い、多くの人々の想いを込めて作られました。1995年の阪神・淡路大震災は、日本中に大きな傷跡を残しました。多くの人々が亡くなり、被災地は大きな打撃を受けました。嵐山羅漢は、この震災で亡くなった方々を供養し、冥福を祈るために作られました。
また太平洋戦争中に大日本帝国海軍が開発した特攻兵器、回天十型の碑も建てられています。さらにその横には魚雷観音がひっそりと佇んでいます。

Arashiyama Arhat in Tenryuji Saga Tenryuji Kurainobaba-cho, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan.
Hogonin Temple, located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, is a temple of the Tenryuji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. It is one of the pagodas of Tenryuji Temple, the head temple of the Daihonzan sect, and was founded in the Muromachi period (1336-1573). The “Arashiyama Rohan,” which stretches in front of this temple, houses an array of unique stone Buddha statues, each with various expressions and poses.
These stone Buddhas were created with the hopes and wishes of many people for the recovery from Earthquake of 1995, which left a deep scar across Japan. Many people died and the affected areas were devastated. The Arashiyama Arhat was created to offer memorial services and pray for the repose of the souls of those who died in the earthquake.
There is also a monument to the Kaiten Type 10, a suicide attack weapon developed by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War. Next to the monument, the Torpedo Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) stands quietly.
