Yuka, we are celebrating India's biggest festival. Which is called Diwali Festival. Diwali festival means festival of lights. On this festival we decorate the whole house with lights and burst firecrackers. We all distribute sweets to all our neighborhood houses on this day. Your ducky looked so cute. The bikes at the Murasaki Sports shop looked good. The four cars looked beautiful in red, like little Formula Ones.

Looks like the Irish Government needs to go on a diplomatic mission to restore the ancient Irish festival of Samhain that Halloween is from. It's a summer's end festival and yes the Americans Americanised some parts of it like St Patrick's Day cause of the Irish immigration there. It's still fun and our second national holiday up here in the Northwest of Ireland anyway.
Original Jack O'Lantern are Turnips and are far more scary. One thousands of years old found in a bog still looks great and scary. Dracula of course has Irish origins. Irish Author Bram Stroker based it on an old myth of a king near Dungiven in Northern Ireland. A king that wouldn't die and kept killing and drinking the blood of his subjects. Until killed and buried upside down under a huge rock. The warning to not move the rock or he will come back again still exists. Bram travelled around Ireland collecting myths and legends before writing that now famous book.
Costumes come from the kids dressing as scary beings to ward off the evil spirits the Celts believed come back to Earth on Halloween for that night. Now of course even us adults do it especially here in Derry, the number one place to go in the world for Halloween. Big fireworks show tonight I'm personally looking forward to. Carnival I don't care for cause it replaced street drinking and bars which was far more fun. The bars will all be rammed pack full of people though. All wearing costumes. The Family fun parts will be in the main public squares.
