#BehindTheShot with @lindsayadler_photo | “When you create images inspired by the past, you imbue your photographs with a sense of timelessness. In my work I regularly am inspired by vintage hairstyles, makeup looks, theatrical clothing, paintings, sculpture and more. With these concepts, my goal is to take more classic themes and add a modern twist. For this shoot I wanted to create an image loosely inspired by Renaissance concepts of beauty, but add a modern fashion editorial flair to the imagery. First, I chose hair styling and clothing to channel that aesthetic. Next, I printed a large sky/cloud background so I could capture as much as possible in camera without compositing. Finally, I added the lighting elements. This shoot had 4 different strobes; an overhead umbrella for general illumination, a grid of the face for more brightness and contrast, a light on the background for separation, and a hair light for a bit of heavenly glow. I worked with the Canon 24-105mm lens shooting wide open at F4 to put the background out of focus slightly for more painterly results.” Camera: #Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
