Surviving Severe Triple Hurricane, Extreme Winter Van Life Storm Camping Blizzard & Snow #2 #vanlife
Actually thinking about evacuating My 2024 arctic winter tour My 2nd winter of extreme van life Surviving the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the arctic coast 62.3 m/s 140mph 225kph wind gusts Hello again dear friends and welcome back to my channel
On January 7th I set out on my big arctic van life tour for 2024 I have so far experienced amazing winter beauty extreme cold, freezing temperatures massive blizzards and snow storms Here are a few highlights from the arctic tour so far before we catch up with the hurricanes in the arctic

I update the maps several times a week with new campsites and more this is intense I am currently sheltering from the first of 3 hurricanes to hit arctic Lofoten within a week Record breaking hurricanes with winds as strong as 62.3 m/s, 140 mph, 225 kph January 29th, Leknes, Lofoten
Seems to be working pretty well so far Being here in the shelter of this building The first of 3 hurricanes has calmed and turned to a hail storm. It is time to make it cozy in the van and cook dinner It is Tuesday morning
This is starting to get a little bit tedious. That peak of the storm yesterday was was not so bad here I was parked but looking at the news it looks like houses have blown down concrete cinder blocks have moved cars have blown of and across the roads
It has obviously been really bad My sheltered spot has been really good The problem is that on Thursday morning there is going to be another hurricane (Hurricane 3 on Thursday and Hurricane 2 will come tonight). It will have the same brutal force but it will come from the north
So that is the total opposite direction from the previous one I was hoping that there would be some better weather so I could see more of Lofoten in winter but that is not gonna happen So by early Thursday morning I need to have found a place that is sheltered from the opposite direction
I kind of regret going to Lofoten. I has been miserable I could have been somewhere else in proper winter weather, not these extreme hurricanes I not that big of a fan of these coastal hurricanes in winter
It can be fascinating if you are not in a van, but in a van I think it is too much of a hassle to find safe places to park and shelter I should probably have been in Sweden instead There is a little bit of a let up in the weather
So I am heading out for a few hours now to empty the toilet and to see if I can get some views ofd the ocean I am not going out to the ocean when the hurricanes are raging
The waves my not look as impressive today as they are in the middle of the hurricane, but I need to take care and stay safe It is a calm day between hurricane 1 and 2 the bay here is sheltered This is the inland sea, sheltered. Around Leknes look here!
Gonna head out here on the other side of the island Looks intimidating out there The quiet side of the island on a quiet day looks like this but on Thursday it is gonna hit this side What you saw there is the reason why people from certain countries die in Norway every year
They either get swiped away to sea or they fall off a cliff And that is usually the reason for most search and rescues in Norway Crazy stuff That is as much as I dare to do in this weather This is the day where there is a little bit calmer weather
And now we have 2 hurricanes on the forecast coming in tonight and on Thursday It is just crazy out here these days I wish I was not here, but I need to make the best out of it It was cool to see what the ocean was like
It was a calm day in between Yesterday the waves where as high as 15 m and today they are only around 5 to 6 m So what I filmed was maybe a third of what it was yesterday
I am pretty sheltered here. I talked to the store manager again, and he said I was perfectly fine to stay here and ride out the hurricanes It is a really good building because it is big and square so you can move around it depending on the conditions
The wind is gonna change, now it is coming from south west, and on Thursday it will change to north west Exciting days! This is what it is like going from the wind to where I am parked in shelter look at this!
And then into shelter (look at the fur on my coat as I get into shelter). One more time Incredibly grateful to Rema 1000 in Leknes for allowing me to stay here, because that is some serious weather Actually thinking about evacuating tomorrow
It is Tuesday night, January 30th, and now these red alert warnings are issued for the area for Thursday February 1st Hurricane Ingunn 62.3 m/s, 140 mph, 225 kph wind gusts will be measured a little further south on the coast Wednesday morning, very early I decided it was time to leave the area
With the 3rd hurricane coming in and it will reach 44 m/s winds (98 mph) where I was parked and it was gonna reach 47 m/s (105 mph) in Svolvær, a town that I just passed through now I started at 7 in the morning and I am going to head away from Lofoten
I am going to go north to Setermoen or that area, it looks much better on the forecast Only got a smaller storm up there, but there is going to be a lot of snow so it might turn into a blizzard. indeed!
I didnt feel it was safe with the van in those wind conditions I was able to find sheltered spots, but I have never experienced winds of that magnitude before that is so far above the hurricane threshold that it is crazy
It is the most extreme storm that has hit the arctic islands of Lofoten Gonna find a little bit better area to stay in Should be a long drive today through bad driving conditions A lot of snow and sleet and icy roads But should be a fun drive
We already have a snow storm here It is a bit early for that I guess there where snow storms on the forecast today as well just not as powerful as they are going to get tomorrow

Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life in Hurricanes, Blizzard, Snow Storm & Camping in Freezing Temperatures. Driving my van 1,800 Miles or 2,900 km to the Arctic Oceans and Northern Cape. Triple Hurricane in this episode of the Arctic Documentary series.
Part 6 for my 2024 Arctic tour. 3 record breaking hurricanes surprised me and hit the arctic coast within one week as I was traveling in my van to the outlying islands. The hurricanes where the strongest that have ever been measured in the country and reached wind speeds of over 62 m/s, or 140mph. Red alerts where issued for all along the coast, and I ended up in the middle of it, not by my choice, but when ferries are involved things can get tricky. Here is my history of what I did to survive this inferno of 3 hurricanes in one week.
My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapaliitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America – USA and Canada.

İyi akşamlar selamlar
Nice 🌊
What I love is the spectacular winter-beauty of the scenery, and the soft colours that the sun is laying on the snow…. And when you had gone out in the blizzard for filming, I thougth : O dear guy, quick ! go inside, put on your warm and dry scandinavian pull, prepare yourself a burning hot coffee and a hot dinner, and later on, before going to sleep, have a hot milk with honey, or a hot grog with rhum ! Take care in that freezing windy weather, when the blizzard is blowing into your face and into your body. Hopely your anoraks are resisting enough in order you don't risk a pneumonia. Video spectacular as always thanks to your valiance ! 💜
Views are spectacular! Enjoyed the trip.
I love these videos to fall asleep watching. The music combination with the drone footage is incredible.
Those hamburgers looked fantastic! I hope the hail didn't damage your van? Cheers,🍻

👋Hey there Norwegian Xplorer,
This is another brilliant video created & shared. You're the video making star🌟! lol
The weather's so often wild & wet but nonetheless, you deal with it all so positively & you make it all look so easy, yet it's not.
I never tire of your videos & apart from seeing all of the jaw dropping scenery, I also enjoy watching you prepare your meals. You seem to enjoy what you do.
Speaking of freezing/wild weather, I recall our 2 hour delay for our trains arrival in Bergen, as there'd been much ice abound on the tracks near Oslo & beyond & for safety reasons, we had to wait.
Also, I love all of your music within your videos. The music really adds a special feel, energy, atmosphere & ambiance to your videos.
Once again, tusen takk for sharing & here's wishing you well.
Peace✌
Exciting
Make my 🍔 well please
It`s a pity your music from this video isn`t on Youtube Music yet. I don`t have Apple Music or Spotify but would love to add tracks like Into the Thorofare or Seldom Seen to my playlists.
Wild wind crash fast
Your choice of music is amazing.
