⁴ᴷ Shimane: Izumoshi Station (島根県: 出雲市駅) – Japan Walking Tour (October, 2024)
As part of my journey through the Chūgoku region, moving from Tottori Prefecture to Shimane Prefecture, this marks the first time I’ve filmed in Shimane for the channel. With this, I’ve now filmed in every prefecture of Hokkaido and Honshu—only Shikoku and Kyushu remain.
Taking advantage of my remaining summer vacation, I spent the morning visiting shrines, including Kumano Taisha and Izumo Taisha. Although Izumo City Station is a bit far from Izumo Taisha, a local resident mentioned that this month is known as “Kamiarizuki” (the month of the gods). While it’s traditionally based on the lunar calendar, there’s an upcoming festival to welcome gods from all over Japan soon. It really made me feel like I’ve arrived in the land of the gods.
